Symbolic Art


Students started this project by choosing their favorite song. Next the broke down the song to find the symbolic meaning. After that they were able to brainstorm and design art with only the use of symbols to tell their story. 

they also wrote artist statements about their art.....here are what a few had to say

"feelings are most easily inspired by the artwork you make yourself"-Jordan

"my work came to me because I like to go around and look at old towns" - Casey J

"the more I played the game, the more I liked the dragon" -Jeromy 

"I tried to make it look like somebody was upset and hurt. Like they got cheated by a friend" -Joey

"It was our song and still is" -MacKenzie

"I create to show the feeling of love" -Kaylee

"love and happiness, they both inspire me" -Keidra


"this can relate to the wars we have and all the screwed up things we have in the world"-Cole T



"so when i hear, the song, it makes me feel good inside my tummy like when I eat yummy food" -Dylan

"The song reminds me to stay true to myself" -Cheyenne






"she doesnt have to worry about what others think of it thats the main reason i like Madonna" -Jack

"I want to draw to peoples attention by showing them the light and the dark" -Jasmine

"football is about family, sacrifice,  work, and love." -Nathan

"the flames are burning the heart and tearing it apart like the lies in the song" -Kaytlyn
