Symbolic Charcoal Art

You probably have a favorite song, but have you really ever taken the time to discover the meaning? Or even listen to the words at all?  Most all artists have some underlined meaning, sometimes its hidden, and sometime just in plain site waiting to be discovered.

Students choose their favorite lyrics, analayzed them, brainstormed how to portray the concept into visual form, and then drew their ideas, symbols, and thoughts onto paper with charcoal to tell their story.

This is my absoultely favorite type of art. Some people believe art is simple and its just about copying whats in front of you with perfection. A true artist is able to plant a seed into the viewers mind and pull them into the story.

Look for symbols and emotions, see if you can discover and uncover the story. Perhaps you might even know the song that would match one of these.  Or you, yourself have been through the same story told.
