Surreal Hands

Hands, you've all seen them in many types of artwork from cavemen to modern art. We started off by drawing hands uninstructed, with no tips from me.  Then students learned a technique called blind contour (drawing with only looking at your hand and not your paper!). Many improvements we already starting to take place as we moved onto a 2nd technique that artists like Michelango and Di Vinci used to improve their drawing skills, dissection!!  Only we used the internet instead of dissecting an actual human hand. Below you can see their improvements!

After we improved our hand drawing skills we learned about one of my favorite Spanish artists, Salvador Dali. Dali was best know for his surreal artwork, bizarre character, and crazy moustache. We created videos judging his "Persistence of Memory" painting--->

Student took their techniques learned along with their knowledge of surreal art to create their own surreal hands.
